Omanga's husband is a physician whose work on HIV and AIDS has been published in prestigious journals. Along with seven other researchers, he co-wrote a journal article titled "Association of sex work with lower activation of the mucosal immune system."

According to the study's background material, unprotected sexual intercourse and seminal discharge are important risk factors for the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus because they both significantly activate the mucosal immune system. This study sought to determine whether female sex employment had any impact on mucosal immunity.

In 2009, he served as a program officer for a National Aids Control Council initiative that conducted a study on men's health (NACC).
