A 36-year-old woman has died after a gold mining shaft collapsed on Thursday at 10: 40 am at Ramba ‘A’ village in North Rama, Rarieda, Siaya County.
According to police, Two women, Roseline Adhiambo and Jane Akinyi, were buried under the rubble.
“The incident at the site was reported at Ndori Police Station by an official at the mining company,” police said.
The police established that workers at the site responded swiftly, rescuing the two.
“The two were rushed to Lwak Mission Hospital where Roseline Adhiambo was pronounced dead on arrival.”
