Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko recently had a meeting with Mary Njoki, a woman who gained viral attention a few days ago because of tattooing his face.

Mary Njoki, a single mother from Murang'a, had garnered online fame after she disclosed that she had tattooed Sonko's face on her thigh. Seeking assistance from the flamboyant politician, she explicitly showcased the detailed tattoo on social media.

"Hi Mike Sonko. Habari yako? I'm Mary Njoki from Murang'a. Mimi ndio nilichora tattoo, na ndio hii hapa kwa mguu. Napitia shida mingi sana, naomba tu unisaidie..."Niko na watoto wanafaa kukula. Sina watu wetu. Naomba tu unipee hata kama ni kazi..." she said appealed.

Mary expressed admiration for Sonko, highlighting that her choice to tattoo his portrait was influenced by the politician's generosity towards people he hardly knew.

Shortly after her heartfelt appeal, Sonko welcomed Mary to his Nairobi offices. The two sat at a table in one of his opulent offices, where Sonko attentively interviewed her. During their conversation, he pledged to establish a boutique business for her.

Sonko initially inquired about Mary's background, asking for details such as her name, hometown, educational history, family situation, and the specific assistance she was seeking.

Upon learning that she was an unemployed single mother of two from Murang'a town with an education up to Class 8, Sonko expressed his willingness to support her. He proposed establishing a clothing shop in Murang'a town but made it clear that he would not provide cash, as it went against his charitable guidelines.

"Identify duka na uongee na Governor wa huko ni rafiki yangu. Ata Sabina Chege, they're all my friends. Identify duka tukulipie first six months alafu tuone stock ni wapi tutanunua. Hatutakupatia cash. Siwezi kukupea cash," he told her.

As the discussion unfolded, Sonko inquired about Njoki's children, showing interest in their well-being.

Subsequently, the former county boss contacted someone named 'Francis,' instructing him to attend to Njoki's needs. Additionally, Sonko pledged to contribute Ksh. 100,000 to kickstart her new business venture.

Sonko then raised the question of whether Njoki would contemplate removing the tattoo once her financial situation improved.

"Siwezi futa... Siwezi taka (kufuta)", she meekly replies.

While responding to her actions, Sonko then said, "I appreciate your faithful support and I also love you but please, I will love you without tattoos because your body is yours and your master's and God's."

In an interview with Digital reporters, Maryanne Njoki explained that she chose to get a thigh tattoo because she admires the way he selflessly assists people.

"I decided to draw only those who have. I love the way he helps people, I saw that he has helped many people and I have never seen a single one thank him back. I am his fan, he doesn't know me but I know him. I said I should draw him so I can see him."
