Bongo Flava star Zuhura Othman Soud, popularly known as Zuchu, recently toured Kenya alongside her boss and boyfriend, Diamond Platnumz, for a performance at the Furaha Festival. While the event stirred some drama when Diamond failed to appear on stage, Zuchu seized the spotlight and delivered an unforgettable performance.
Zuchu's rise to fame has been remarkable. Officially signed to Wasafi Record Label in 2020, she quickly became a sensation, earning her first YouTube plaque for surpassing 100,000 subscribers in less than a week. By 2022, she had cemented her place as the most subscribed female artist in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Despite these accomplishments, Zuchu remains grounded and focused on her future. “If I’m honest, I haven’t achieved what I would consider my biggest achievement yet,” she admitted. “The YouTube milestones were big at the time, but now I have bigger dreams I’m working towards.”

She reflected on her surprise at the speed of her early success, recalling how she grew from a relatively unknown artist to receiving a YouTube Gold Plaque for one million subscribers in under a year. “It felt special to surpass other female artists who had been in the game for years, but even that doesn’t feel like my breakthrough moment,” she added.
**Giving Credit to Diamond Platnumz**
Zuchu attributed much of her success to Diamond Platnumz, whom she considers a mentor and a hero. “No matter what happens between us, Diamond will always be my hero. He came from the streets of Tandale and rose to become the biggest artist in East Africa. Supporting me is just another example of his generosity,” she said.
She praised Diamond for the sacrifices he made to launch her career, including putting his own projects on hold for a year to focus on her. “He could have used that money to build an apartment for his daughter, Tiffah, but he chose to invest in me instead. Supporting a female artist comes with its risks, but he believed in me,” she noted.
Zuchu acknowledged the legacy Diamond has built, saying, “You can’t talk about the Tanzanian music industry without mentioning his name. Whether it’s Harmonize, Rayvanny, or even me, all of us owe part of our success to him. The industry must give him his flowers.”
**A Personal Touch**
Beyond her music career, Zuchu spoke fondly about her role as a maternal figure to Diamond’s children with Zari Hassan. “At first, I was nervous because they weren’t my children, but now they’ve become my little buddies. It’s a role I cherish deeply,” she shared.
As Zuchu continues to grow her career, she remains grateful for the foundation laid by Diamond Platnumz and focused on achieving even greater heights in the music industry.
