Police officers investigating the mysterious deaths related to cultic worship at the Coast on Tuesday, April 25, grilled televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero over his doctrine and church operations.

It was recently revealed that the DCI had interrogated the man of God to provide details on his church and the megacity he is developing in Kilifi. The DCI reportedly interrogated pastor Ezekiel to record a statement regarding the indoctrination of innocent Christians who follow him.
After writing the statement, the DCI will have to investigate his church and see whether he is guilty or not. If he is found guilty, he will be charged before a court of law. And if innocent, he will be allowed to continue with his ministry.
On April 25, police officers investigating the deaths linked to cultic worship in the Coast region questioned televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero regarding his doctrine and church operations. Confidential sources from the Ministry of Interior confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that Pastor Ezekiel gave a statement to Kilifi DCI on that same day.
The management of Milele Funeral Home in Mavueni, Kilifi County, was also questioned by the police on the alleged cultic activities in the area. Johnson Amani Kea, the CEO of the funeral home, confirmed that the police had inquired about the number of dead bodies collected from Pastor Ezekiel's church. He further clarified that the funeral home did not lodge any complaints with the police but only assisted them.
Amani Kea exclusively told Kenyans.co.ke that they have not lodged a complaint against Pastor Ezekiel but have just given their statement as required by the law and help the police in doing their investigation.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki confirmed on Tuesday, April 25, that police officers were investigating other flamboyant preachers whose teachings appeared to contradict the law.
He stated that he could not provide further comment as the matter was being handled by security agencies but noted that the police who had questioned the management of Milele Funeral Home were from the DCI Kilifi headquarters rather than the Malindi Police Station. Despite attempts by Kenyans.co.ke to contact Pastor Ezekiel for comment, he has not responded to phone calls or text messages provided on his church's social media pages.
Previously, Pastor Ezekiel had criticized Milele Funeral Home, claiming that it was situated in a dangerous area along the Mombasa-Malindi Road. The CEO of the morgue, Johnson Amani Kea, responded by stating that the morgue was still in operation and that the building also housed other businesses that benefited the community.

The investigation into Evangelist Ezekiel Odero's life and teachings occurred in the aftermath of the Shakahola massacre, where over 90 bodies were unearthed, and over 30 individuals were rescued after starving themselves to death. Pastor Paul Mackenzie, a controversial figure, was subsequently apprehended, and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji recommended charges of terrorism, genocide, radicalization, and assisting individuals in taking their own lives.
