Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that all its VAT returns will be pre-filled, marking a complete departure from the usual way of filing VAT returns.
In a notice on X, KRA says the move has been informed by their desire to simplify the tax collection process and ensure that the taxpayer's experience is enhanced, an opportunity that the old procedure denied them.
The new directive will make the taxpayersโ tax information available to KRA.

During its National Taxpayers Day, KRA declared its intentions to enhance digitization in its systems to scale up service delivery for Kenyan taxpayers.
This, it said, would also enhance revenue collection across the entire country, sealing off loopholes to avoid pilferage.
