M-Pesa is set to launch a tap-to-pay card payment option for customers, businesses, and developers to receive mobile payments, online payments, and in-person card payments globally.
This comes after Safaricom partnered with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance, a form of security for firms that accept, transmit, and store credit card information and transactions.
“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are innovating our payment solutions to provide customers and businesses with more options and additional convenience,” Safaricom announced.
Tourists with Visa cards will also be able to pair their cards with M-Pesa in the eight markets where it currently exists.
“FinTechs and financial institutions are equally set to leverage our card processing capabilities empowering them to provide end-to-end mobile and card payment solutions.”
