Kisumu County Governor Anyang Nyong'o opposed extremely high charges by Safarilink.

The Governor gave an instance where he paid Kes 19,000 for a one-way ticket from Wilson Airport to Kisumu Airport.

Taking the complaint to his Twitter, Nyong'o noted that the normal price range is usually between Kes6000 and Kes70000.

Further, he instructed the County Government of Kisumu to boycott the Airline effective February,9,2023.

However, responding to the Gover on Twitter through a statement, Safarilink noted their standard charges range from Kes5500 to Kes19000 depending on the time of booking, demand and peak travel days.

Further, the Airline said they contend with multiple taxes and levies such as RDL on expensive spare parts, fuel, engine overhauls, and the sliding Kenyan Shilling.

The Airline also lamented that other airlines supported by the government had equally high fares, but they were the only ones on the spot for " ripping off gullible passengers".
