Kakuzi is in talks with Chinese Importer Dalian Yidu Group seeking to double its avocado exports to China.
The Agricultural firm Kakuzi had a delegation from the Chinese importer of fresh vegetables and fruits at its orchards and packhouse in Makuyu, Murang'a County.
Chris Flowers, the managing director of Kakuzi Plc, stated that the company will increase its exports to China once the harvest season begins late next month.
He said that the business has made significant investments to assure compliance with the strict requirements of the Chinese market, including tree-to-plate traceability systems.

To address the rising demand for high-quality superfoods around the world, Kakuzi has also expanded its avocado plantations by an additional 60 hectares, from 927 hectares, at a cost of Kes120 million.
Further, Flowers added that the Nairobi Security Exchange(NSE) company is positioned strategically to provide quality superfoods for the local and export markets.
“The visit by the team from Dalian Yidu underscores the importance of quality management systems as such buyers undertake rigorous evaluations to enable them to deliver nothing but the best to their discerning customers,” he added.
Business executive Laura Xu of the Dalian Yidu Group expressed the company's eagerness to work with Kakuzi.
She affirmed that Kakuzi's production and quality management procedures, which complied with the requirements of the Chinese company's supply chain, had impressed the Dalian Yidu Kakuzi who he says produces high-quality Hass avocados whose demand is high in China.
Since 1988, the Dalian Yidu Group has started importing fresh fruit.
Leading fruit distributors from South Africa, Chile, the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and South Asia are partners with this company.
Since its founding, the Yidu Group, whose business scope includes logistics, finance, and trade, has grown to become China's top fresh food supply chain management, according to Xu.
By employing important ports across China, such as the Shenyang Distribution Center in the North East, Zhengzhou Airport and Distribution Center in the centre, and Guangzhou Distribution Center in the south, the company has built a national logistics network.
The infrastructure of the company enables the Yidu Group to offer quick, effective, affordable, one-stop cold-chain solutions to clients globally.
