Under a partnership agreement, Safaricom and Nairobi City County agreed that the telecom would create and maintain the My Nairobi App as a component of the My Nairobi hub program, which aims to offer digital services and improve citizen engagement.
Safaricom will assist the county with designing digital channels, integrating county backend systems, and developing a payment gateway and infrastructure to ensure high service availability through my Nairobi hub.
Safaricom will also provide calling and data solutions for the county, including a "restricted user group" with discounted rates for calls made by employees.
Additional solutions will be through Digifarm, such as solutions for parking management, income collection, and green credits.

On Thursday, the governor of Nairobi County, Sakaja Johnson, stated that My Nairobi Hub would allow them to provide better services to Nairobi residents.
According to Mr Sakaja, it provides residents and tourists of Nairobi County with a single entry point to various services, including the ability to make payments.
Also, by working together, the county will be able to identify ways to provide healthcare for low-income residents and better connect with its other partners, such as the Kenya Medical Supply Authority.
Other collaboration solutions include:
- Integrated traffic and parking management systems.
- WiFi hotspots near bus stops and in low-income neighbourhoods.
- Innovative water systems under the creative city effort.
- A disaster recovery site for the county.
According to Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, digitalisation and technology have a considerable potential to alter county services, bringing greater comfort to consumers and enhancing operational efficiency and tax collection for local governments.
Safaricom will give the county free access to the My Nairobi Hub and other digital solutions as part of the relationship, which will last for two years.
Also, it will be accessible via other digital platforms such as the M-Pesa Super App, a website, and a USSD shortcode for users using feature phones.
