The Geothermal Development Company’s (GDC) managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), Jared Othieno, has been sent on terminal leave.
He has been replaced by Paul Ngugi, who is currently serving as Drilling & Infrastructure General Manager on an interim basis.
Ngugi boasts over 25 years of experience in geothermal business development.
He leaves the firm before his three-year term lapses next month.
Othieno joined GDC on April 19, 2020, taking over from Johnson Ole Nchoe, whose four-year term ended.
The Geothermal Development Company is a wholly owned parastatal of the Government of Kenya mandated to execute surface geothermal development, including prospecting for, drilling, harnessing and selling geothermal energy to electricity-generating companies for energy production and sale to the national grid.
