Kenya Airways (KQ) yesterday announced the closure of its booking offices in Kisumu and Johannesburg ahead of the anticipated demonstrations.
This follows a simultaneous demonstration announced by Azimio and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) announced simultaneous on Monday (today).
According to a statement by the National Carrier, booking services are unavailable on March 20, 2023, and will open on March 21.
“All our other offices within our network including the Airport offices in Johannesburg and Kisumu will be operational, “said KQ.
This comes after Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga declared Monday, March 20 a public holiday to allow Kenyans to participate in the planned protests.

He spoke while addressing his followers in Siaya County urging Kenyans to participate in the planned nationwide mass movement to pressure the government to reduce living expenses.
He predicted that the protests would be peaceful and advised participants to behave in a civilized way. Saying protests are the only alternative left.
"We declare that March 20 shall be a holiday in the name of Azimio One Kenya Alliance. The former premier announced in response to a request from Martha Karua, leader of the Narc Kenya Party, that all employed supporters of Azimio may participate in the demonstrations", he said.
Similarly, in Johannesburg, South Africa, the EFF called for demonstrations, calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s resignation.
“Our sincere apologies to any inconvenience caused by the closure of the offices,the safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers are of highest priority,” the national carrier stated.
