Bolt has introduced a driver selfie check feature to enhance customers’ safety and prevent impersonation and account sharing.

With the feature, a driver must take a selfie to verify their identity driver goes online.

Further, the driver will be restricted from offering their services on the platform until their details are verified should the selfie not match previously shared driver details.

Bolt Country Manager Linda Ndungu stated that the digital hailing taxi platform offers affordable, quality and safe services.

“Through this new driver selfie check feature, we aim to offer a safe rider mobility experience to all users on our platform. The new feature will discourage driver impersonation and continue to strengthen our mobility service by enhancing the safety of riders,” Ndungu added.

Bolt has introduced additional features on its platform to enhance the safety and well-being of drivers, boda-boda riders, and passengers during a Bolt trip over the years.

Other safety features offered by the tech company include driver and car sharing, trip sharing, and an SOS emergency button, among others.

Bolt also has a women-only category that addresses safety needs and improves women’s mobility options.

The women-only category enables female passengers to request rides from female drivers while simultaneously expanding Bolt’s ride options.
