The National Treasury has announced the appointment of Lawrence Kibet as the new Director General (DG) of Public Investments and Portfolio Management.
Kibet comes from Image Registrars Limited, where he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
His additional duties now include organising, running, and leading public firms, investments by the government, and other assets and liabilities.
The new DG possesses finance management, accounting, and commercial and business planning expertise.

He also knows about corporate law, raising capital, project management, and innovation management.
Finance and banking, energy and petroleum, telecommunications and technology, logistics, and consumer goods are a few industries to which he has been exposed.
Other industries in several African markets include banking, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and commercial services.
Kibet graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Option), a Bachelor of Law (LL.B. ), and an MBA.
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), and the Investor Relations Society (UK) are among the professional organisations he belongs to.
