On Saturday, Kakamega County Governor Fernandez Barasa revealed that the County government will create 3000 jobs for unemployed youth in the 2023/2024 Financial Year.
Speaking at a funeral service of the late Maendeleo, Democratic Party leader Amisi Muganda Barasa noted that some 50 youths will be selected from each ward of the 60 wards in the region.
He said the move is to empower residents in line with his manifesto's wealth creation and social development pillars.
Further, the governor stated that all successful applicants will be allowed to serve the residents and county government regardless of their academic qualifications.
The youth to be hired for one year will be tasked with maintaining roads, drainage systems, bush clearing, and office support services.
