She has more than 15 years of experience working in strategy, partnerships, product development, and customer experience, and she offers a wealth of knowledge to the private lender.

She has devoted most of her career to working for financial institutions, such as Standard Chartered Bank, and hyper-growth startups in Africa, such as Cellulant and Andela, where she assisted the company in growing from Series B to Series E investment, raising $381 million.

“I look forward to working with the team to further accelerate growth and maximize the positive impact of easily accessible and affordable credit on society,” Muthoni said.

“Together, we will strive to unlock the full potential of FinTech while ensuring its ethical and responsible deployment.”

Agnes will be essential in determining Tala's strategic direction and propelling the company's expansion into new markets and sectors after receiving a licence to operate as a digital credit provider from the Central Bank of Kenya earlier in Q1.

She will work closely with a skilled group of researchers, engineers, and business experts to find development prospects, create strategic alliances, and create cutting-edge solutions.

“Agnes’s appointment as the Head of Growth and Strategy marks an important milestone for us,” said Annstella Mumbi, Interim GM of Tala-Kenya.

“Her deep understanding of the technology landscape, combined with strategic vision and leadership capabilities, make her the ideal candidate to lead our growth initiatives,” Mumbi added.
