According to Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the Nairobi Southern Bypass was visited in response to reports of fatal car accidents purportedly caused by freshly erected speed bumps on the road.
On Tuesday, social media users shared horrific accidents involving motorists unfamiliar with the new bumps.
A warning to other drivers was posted on X on Wednesday morning by user @Emmelye, who stated that there had been a tragic collision on Tuesday afternoon, followed by another accident late in the day.

"This morning at 6:30 someone veered off and crashed a pedestrian and hit the NHC wall. bumps on both sides," the post added, referring to the Nairobi Housing Corporation in Lang'ata.
The user tagged CS Murkomen in the post, to which the transport minister wrote in the morning, "I am on site I will revert."
On the bypass, which spans the southwest of Nairobi from Mombasa Road through Lang'ata to Kikuyu, complaints about a need for more suitable road signage, rumble strips, and adequate lighting have also been made.
