Patients from Karungu Sub-county Hospital in Migori County have been forced to fetch water from Lake Victoria due to water scarcity at the health facility.
Kachieng Ward Representative Brian Osodo stated in Sori town during a meeting Migori deputy governor Joseph Mahiri attended that patients seeking health services at the hospital must fetch water from a lake some 20 meters away.
According to Osodo, there is an urgent need for clean and dependable water at the clinic to keep patients from finding an alternative at the lake.

He stated that his office will work closely with the County Department of Water to ensure the facility can access water.
Mahiri stated in his remarks that the hospital did not have running water. The deputy governor said he visited the facility and confirmed the villagers' concerns.
Mahiri stated that the county government of Migori has already taken up the problem and that the facility will receive water soon.
