Isaac Mwaura, a former candidate for the Senate, has expressed his happiness and thanks in response to his selection as the government spokesperson.

The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, announced his appointment on Wednesday night, effective immediately.

Mwaura expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for giving him the position in a moving statement posted on social media.

"Glory be to GOD! HE is indeed so very faithful to those who wait upon HIM. What GOD has kept for you HE will surely make it come to pass no matter how long !" Mwaura stated on X (formerly Twitter).

"Many thanks to President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for appointing me as the Government Spokesman! So help me GOD," he added.

Gabriel Muthuma and Mwanaisha Chidzuga will fill in for Mwaura.

President Ruto had proposed Mwaura for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi before his selection as the government's spokesperson.

However, because a court order delayed the CAS nominations, his appointment to the CAS position had yet to be finalized.

Since Colonel (Retired) Cyrus Oguna's departure from the job of Government Spokesperson in October 2022, the office has remained vacant. Oguna resigned from the position to become the county's chief of staff in Siaya.

The nomination of Mwaura is a result of President William Ruto's restructuring of the Executive by Article 132 of the Constitution.
