The unity of Mount Kenya will be served by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reaching out to former President Uhuru Kenyatta to bury the hatchet.
Given his position of seniority in the administration, Gachagua is regarded as the region's political kingpin; nonetheless, a bloody political battle for Uhuru's de facto replacement engulfs Mount Kenya.
The DP, who has previously attacked Uhuru, declared he is resolved to develop a strategy to bring the society together and mend the scars caused by the 2022 elections.
"Kenyatta was fronting Raila Odinga for the presidency and he lost. We have now decided to embrace him as our respectable son and statesman despite everything," Gachagua said in an interview with Inooro Radio on Friday.

"As Mt Kenya leaders, we have agreed not to be fighting him and I'm planning to hold talks with him. I have ordered everyone to respect him and he is also doing good to keep his peace."
However, Gachagua claimed on Friday that the mountain is still stable, peaceful, and united despite signs of turf fights for control of the area's political agenda.
"It is the media that is trying to portray a rift between the leaders of the mountain. I will lead from the front in ensuring that the leadership of the mountain continues holding together and will bring on board every leader from the region," he said.
After the election, the DP accused Uhuru of putting Raila in the area, even though he had signed a pact to support Ruto.
When he decided to back Ruto, he said that the former president had been trying to get him by harassing him and using the legal system against him.
Gachagua once accused Uhuru of deploying security guards to humiliate and detain him in his Mathira house before the 2022 elections.
The Mt. Kenya region's leaders have been told, according to Gachagua, to show respect for Uhuru and his family in the future. He said this on Friday.
The former First Family received harassment from President Ruto's regional allies during the elections, including criticism of Mama Ngina.
After the election, some Kenya Kwanza lawmakers were accused of employing goons after a raid at the farm along Southern Bypass connected to the Kenyatta family.
The DP issued a warning on Friday, claiming the region was on the verge of disintegrating unless its leaders came together.
"I will be sponsoring a golf tournament in Nyeri on October 21, 2023 bringing together our tycoons to raise substance abuse rehabilitation kitty for Mt Kenya addicts so that they can be reclaimed to procreate and boost our numbers. It is part of unity talks that I'm holding across the region," he said.
The DP said he will remain loyal to President William Ruto.
"I will remain loyal to President William Ruto. I will submit myself to him and we will soldier on these remaining years towards 2027 and God willing, come back together to the voters to together seek a second term," he said.
