Governor Kawira Mwangaza of Meru has been apprehended, according to reports. Her arrest comes in the wake of an alleged attempt to implement an Okolea program in Ruiga Central, Imenti.

Several sources have indicated that the program had previously prohibited.

This incident occurs amidst the ongoing disagreement between the governor, MCAs, and the deputy governor.

In a recent turn of events, Meru Deputy Governor Mutuma M'Ethingia openly addressed the ongoing disputes within Meru County. Speaking at a burial ceremony for a fallen GSU officer in Kiegoi area, Igembe South Constituency, he candidly revealed that he hasn't played an active role in the county's affairs and has felt marginalized in all of its programs.

Mutuma emphasized that, despite holding the esteemed position of Deputy Governor of Meru, regional political dynamics have a substantial impact. He stressed the significance of not losing sight of his origins in Igembe South and the broader Nyambene region. In contrast to the autonomy previously granted to the former Deputy Governor under ex-Governor Munya, Mutuma expressed disappointment at his limited authority in the hiring process. He believes that voicing these concerns has unfortunately painted him in an unfavorable light.
