President William Ruto will visit Japan in May 2024, reciprocating the visit by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Nairobi.

The visit was confirmed on Monday during a meeting between President Ruto and the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya, Ken Okaniwa, at State House Nairobi.

Ambassador Okaniwa delivered a message from Prime Minister Kishida and briefed President Ruto on the forthcoming visit.

Speaking on X, formerly Twitter, the Head of State highlighted the strong historical ties and cooperation between Kenya and Japan, particularly praising Japan’s support for various critical infrastructure projects in Kenya.

The discussions during Prime Minister Kishida’s visit in May encompassed mutually beneficial commercial and economic partnerships, education, scholarships, and infrastructure development while also addressing regional peace and security concerns, including the situation in Sudan.
