A man's knee became lodged in a crevice on a climbing route on Friday night, leaving him stranded on a cliff face in San Juan County for approximately twelve hours.
According to San Juan County Search and Rescue, a man who got stuck while climbing the Generic Crack route called them to the Indian Creek area for assistance.
Around eight o'clock at night, the man slipped while climbing, and his knee became lodged in the crevice, according to authorities.
Despite the efforts of his climbing companions to free him, he stayed stuck, and they concluded that additional assistance would be necessary to free their friend.

It was decided that a helicopter would be required to take the search and rescue team to the top of the cliff, from where they would rappel to the man who was stuck once they arrived.
After several hours of trying to free the man, the team called Grand County Search and Rescue for additional assistance.
The additional assistance allowed for the man's release and safe descent to the ground.
Search and rescue teams reported that the man had been stuck on the cliff face for about 12 hours in total.
The man was fortunate to have sustained only minor injuries during the entire ordeal.
"Without them, this rescue would not have been possible," the San Juan County Search and Rescue team said in appreciation of their cooperation with Classic Air Medical and the Grand County Search and Rescue team.
