One person was shot dead on Tuesday in Baringo North after armed bandits raided Ng'aratuko village stealing an unknown number of livestock.
The deceased, Sylus Chelimo, was looking after his cattle near a local school when he was shot and was rushed to Baringo County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries.
The incident happened as Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki was having a security meeting at the Loruk area with the Rift Valley Commissioner and the Baringo security team, barely 20 kilometres from where the attack took place.
Further, the attack happened a few meters from Ngaratuko Primary School, where KCPE and KEPSEA examinations were being administered.
The teachers were in the process of collecting the exams when gunshots were heard, forcing them to scamper for safety.
