The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has unveiled new bus routes from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to several destinations in Nairobi.
The routes the EV buses will ply from JKIA include Kitengela, Expressway-CBD, Utawala - Embakasi - Outering - CBD, and Expressway - Westlands.
The move is through a partnership between KAA and Metrotrans East Africa Limited & Super Metro as a headway towards sustainability and conserving the environment.
Speaking during the launch, KAA chairman Caleb Kositany said the electric buses mark a significant stride towards sustainability, perfectly aligning with the National Government's strategic goals.
“We're committed to adopting green energy and promoting eco-friendly practices and solutions," he said.

On the other hand, JKIA Airport Manager Selina Gor noted that the introduction of the commuter electric buses is not merely a technological advancement but also a testament to KAA's commitment to enhancing better passenger experience at JKIA.
This comes in the wake of President William Ruto's commitment to invest in green energy by introducing more environmental-friendly reforms in the transport, education and trade sectors.
