Governor Cecily Mbarire gave a stern warning to landowners reportedly encroaching on government land within the Runyenjes market.
During a public participation session on Wednesday evening at the Runyenjes Social Hall, the governor emphasized the importance of protecting County government-owned parcels. She spoke about her efforts to acquire money from the Ministry of Water to develop a modern sewerage system in Runyenjes.
She emphasized the importance of replacing antiquated pit latrines in the fast-growing market, noting that the county already owns land in the Kigaa area designated for sewer development.
She also stated that her government is willing to confiscate county-owned land to enable the development of cheap houses in the market.

Mbarire warned anyone who own government land in the market to prepare to leave, emphasizing that there would be no discussions.
She provided sufficient documentation showing the government's ownership of the land, regardless of who sold it to them.
Aside from these pronouncements, the governor revealed her plans to improve Runyenjes Stadium to higher levels, assuring it will be second only to Embu Stadium in terms of facilities and amenities.
Hon. Johnson Muchangi Mwariama, MCA for Kagaari North Ward and chair of the County Assembly of Embu Budget Committee, supported Governor Mbarire's uncompromising attitude on conserving government land.
He reinforced the appeal for people who own government land to brace for removal. Emphasizing the need for the government to regain control of the land to assist various development programs, warning that failure to do so would jeopardize the county government's capacity to pursue critical initiatives.
