According to the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli army forces killed five Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The ministry said that Israeli army fire killed four people aged 20 to 25 and injured a 14-year-old in Tulkarem. The Israeli army called the victims "terrorists," accusing them of being behind the attacks on Israelis.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the "assassinations carried out by the Israeli occupying forces" in the city in the northwest of the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967.

The government had initially claimed three deaths. According to witnesses in Tulkarem, three armed men were slain when undercover Israeli officers stopped their car.

According to one of the witnesses, the undercover Israeli agents "shot at them in a street in the north of the city, and the three men died."

AFP was unable to independently authenticate social media photographs that showed gun-wielding soldiers in military attire around an intercepted car.

The Israeli army reported that "four terrorists from a terrorist network" were slain within Tulkarem, who were allegedly responsible for dozens of shooting incidents in the area.

Earlier, the Palestinian health ministry reported that Israeli forces murdered a young man and critically injured three others in the southern West Bank village of Halhul.

Since the commencement of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, more than 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops or in settlers' attacks in the West Bank, according to the ministry.
