Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has stated that he will not attend President William Ruto's State of the Nation Address.
The senator took to his X page, formerly known as Twitter express his concerns about the President's capacity to offer an authentic picture of the country's current position.
Sifuna gave two reasons why he could not attend the address; one of the reasons was that President Ruto could not be trusted to give a clear picture of the current state of the nation, and the other reason was that he could not sit there and listen to lies.

For these reasons and out of respect for the institution of Parliament, I shall not attend the State of the Nation address.
The standing orders require that the head of state in an address to Parliament be heard in silence.
