The presidency has announced that Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has successfully undergone shoulder surgery in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His office reported on Thursday that the president is recovering well from this "minor" medical procedure, without providing additional details about the nature of the shoulder issue.

Following the successful shoulder surgery, the president extended his stay in Abu Dhabi for a few days. During this time, he reportedly held meetings with high-ranking Emirati officials, as reported by the state-owned Somali National News Agency (Sonna).

Subsequently, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the Saudi-Africa summit.

After securing re-election last year, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has embarked on diplomatic missions to numerous countries, including those in the Gulf region. The purpose of these travels has been to garner support for his government's efforts in countering the activities of the militant group al-Shabab.
