CS Peninah Malonza found it difficult to address mourners in Chuluni, Kitui East, during a burial after she praised president Ruto for addressing the cost of living.
Malonza told the rowdy audience that President William Ruto is doing everything he can to solve the skyrocketing cost of living, a comment that did not sit well with the people.
"The cost of living is very high; even the president understands that. That is why you see him going abroad to borrow money because we found empty coffers. But he is making sure that the cost of living will go down," she said
As the mourners became more angry, Malonza sought to speed up her remarks, but the throng became even more furious.
"My friends, kindly allow me to finish what I want to say. Let me finish so that you do not snatch this microphone from me," said CS Malonza.
Charity Ngilu, a former Kitui governor, also expressed dissatisfaction with the exorbitant cost of living, which she claims has forced Kenyans to walk barefoot.
Ngilu also stated that most parents are unsure whether their children will return to school next year due to the high living expenses.
"I was a CS like you and please when you sit in that Cabinet, you are a woman, tell President Ruto people are suffering to the extent of walking barefoot," Ngilu said Malonza in a telephone interview.
