Kenya denied involvement in a press conference in Nairobi on Friday, December 15, sanctioned by a Congo opposition figure and M23 rebel leader.
Corneille Nangaa of the Congolese Opposition announced the formation of a new Congolese military alliance that includes rebels.
The Congo River Alliance, which reportedly includes rebels, was introduced by the former head of the DRC's electoral commission to "save the country."
Foreign Affairs and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi stated on Sunday that Kenya is committed to investigating the origins of the misleading claims.

"Kenya strongly disassociates itself from any utterances or activities likely to injure the peace and security of the friendly Nation of DRC and has commenced investigation to determine the identities of the makers of the statement and the extent to which their utterances fall outside constitutionally protected speech," read the statement.
According to press reports, Mudavadi stated that individuals claiming affiliation with rebel groups within the DRC held a press conference in Nairobi, making statements that appeared to be contrary to the DRC's constitutional order.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary also stated unequivocally that Kenya had no role in the meeting.
"Kenya further affirms its non-involvement in the internal affairs of DRC and commits to continue supporting the peace, security, and democratic consolidation of the country," the secretary of state said.
According to Mudavadi, Kenya is a free and democratic state that does not interfere with national and non-national media engagements.
Mudavadi's remarks follow the DRC's recall of its ambassadors from Kenya and Tanzania on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
