Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the form one selection list for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates in 2023.
Out of the 1,406 557 pupils who took the KCPE exam, 1,400,329 could acquire seats in various high schools nationwide.
Machogu said on Monday that 717,358 of the selected kids are boys and 682,971 are girls.42,927 of them have been admitted to national schools, with 22,051 boys and 20,876 girls.

Are 276,746 students enrolled in Extra-County schools, with 141,590 boys and 133,156 girls.
Are 288,201 students enrolled in county schools, including 129,332 boys and 158,869 girls.
In Sub-county schools, 423,171 boys and 369,059 girls have been put in various institutions, bringing the total to 792,230.
Similarly, 2,225 students with special needs have been put in appropriate institutions, with 1,214 boys and 1,011 girls.
"The selection process was strictly guided by the principles of merit, affirmative action, and availability of space," said Machogu, adding that overage students have been forwarded to the Directorate of Adults and Continuing Education.
According to the Education CS, all pupils who scored 400 or more were placed in national or extra-county schools of their choice.
The remainder were assigned to county schools based on the parameters in place.
Based on their disability categories, merits, and preferences, students with special needs were assigned to either disability or regular schools.
One hundred thirty pupils from urban informal settlements have been placed in national schools, while 167 have been placed in extra-county learning institutions - 150 are females and 147 are boys.
CS Machogu further stated that vulnerable and marginalized students with grades of 280 and above, a total of 14,426, will be eligible for government scholarships.
He also stated that candidates with special needs and impairments who scored 280 or lower would be eligible for the scholarships, as would refugees who scored 240 (girls) or 250 (boys).
The Elimu scholarships, given in collaboration with the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and the Equity Group Foundations, will bring the total number of recipients to 52,000.
Machogu stated that Form One's formal start date will be January 15, 2024. Candidates can view their placement results on the Ministry of Education's website.
