Nyandarua senator John Methu is under fire after a video surfaced showing him openly requesting that a top government official be biased against a specific Kenyan tribe.

While speaking at an event attended by Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui, the young senator was seen jokingly urging the CS to increase the microcredit limits of Kalenjin and Kikuyu people while decreasing those of anyone Luo.

Methu attracted chuckles from the audience while making the blatant statements, appearing to double down on shareholders' language from some government figures.

"Waziri Chelugui, Ukiangalia unaona jina inasoma Kip-something, nini, Kamau, Njoroge hio unaongeza kidogo... Jina ya hawa akina Omolo, Omondi, Owori unaweza punguza. Kwa sababu kuna kitu inaitwa kuvuna mahali ambapo mtu alifanya nini? Na kuna kitu inaitwa kufurahia kupiga kura, si namna hio?" he is heard saying.

Many Kenyans were offended by the senator's views, with many condemning him for his brazen tribalism and blatant ethnic profiling.
