Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has expressed joy at the success of a program to minimize the use of illegal brews and illegal narcotics in the Mt. Kenya region.
The DP emphasized the benefits of the anti-drug campaign on Thursday, tying it to an increase in pregnancies among resident women.
Gachagua claimed to have noticed the aforementioned benefits when he visited local locals at his Mathira house on Boxing Day.

“Juzi nimeita wazazi hapa, wakuje wachukue unga, mafuta…Walijaa hapa watu karibu 10, 000. Nikasema tupige laini ya kina mama ambao wako na watoto wadogo. Watoto walikuwa wanalia…Nilifurahi sana,” said Gachagua.
“Haya, nikasema tena wale ambao wanangojea (akimaanisha wenye mimba) wapige laini, ingine hata mrefu zaidi. Najivunia sana; ya kwamba jamii yetu imerudi. Tuna watoto ambao wanazaliwa. Tuna wanawake wajawazito, ambao wanatarajiwa kujifungua hivi karibuni ili jamii yetu iendelee kukua."he said
Gachagua stated on Tuesday that the fight against illicit brew has witnessed a 70% success rate in Central Kenya, thanking the local administration and police for their assistance with the changes.
The DP also investigated the Mungiki sect threat in Central Kenya, saying that those attempting to reconstitute the sect in the pretense of bringing men together would be dealt with harshly.
Gachagua stated that the government is aware of some individuals who have attempted to resurrect the group by conducting youth conferences but that President Ruto's administration will not give in.
