A Kenyan woman was detained at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on suspicion of importing cocaine worth Ksh.281 million.

According to Indian media, the woman was seized by officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) upon her arrival on Thursday, December 28, via flight number. KQ 204 from Nairobi to Mumbai.

According to a DRI statement, police successfully seized 1490 grams of a white powdered material believed to be cocaine hidden in a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle.

"The ingenious concealment of the drugs involved two black polythene packets cleverly placed within a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle," it stated.

Under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, the Kenyan woman has been taken into custody and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. In India, the NDPS Act is a comprehensive legal framework designed to address offenses involving narcotics and psychotropic substances.
