Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been advised by Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai to abandon his plans to run for president in 2027 and support President William Ruto, who will be running for reelection.
On Friday at his rural Nzouni home, the MP allied with the UDA made fun of Kalonzo, saying he didn't have the financial resources to support a presidential campaign like his rivals.
He downplayed Kalonzo's political influence in the region, saying that the Kamba community risks being in opposition again should it be pursued to support his (Kalonzo's) bid.
"He cannot win the presidency alone…the seat requires someone to spend heavily and traverse the country like Ruto. But if Kalonzo traverses the country for one week like Ruto, he will be broke by Thursday and then give up," Mbai stated.

"Kalonzo cannot run a presidential campaign for one week. Actually, he will run broke on the third day. I am not convinced that he can make any meaningful impact."
The divisive Kenya Kwanza lawmaker claimed that Kalonzo had assumed incorrectly that Raila Odinga would support him, which he claims was not the case.
"Just weigh yourself; you can't compete, Raila; you can't compete, Ruto. You can only join either, but Raila's side is not an option since you've been there four times. Just join William Ruto for posterity," said Mbai.
"Raila has invested all his life in politics and there's no way he can leave the button to Kalonzo. Raila will support someone else," he said, adding that Kalonzo should instead consider hanging his political boots honorably.
The MP serving his second term declared that he was working nonstop to strengthen President Ruto's support base in Kitui and ensure Ruto received more than 50% of the vote in the county.
The MP claims that President Ruto received 28% of all votes cast in the region in the 2022 elections, which is a sign that Kalonzo's support in his native Kitui has been steadily declining.
Mbai urged the Kamba community to back the ruling party to secure developments. Mbai is supporting Kitui County UDA chairmanship in the upcoming party elections.
As Uhuru Kenyatta's Mount Kenya region disregarded calls to back Raila in the last election, so did Mbai urge the Kamba community to switch their allegiance from Kalonzo, whom he claimed was "misleading the people."
