The Siaya Governor now claims that the Kenyan Constitution lays out precise wording on the systems of checks and balances and that it is not up to the president to determine which decisions he will honor or reject.
Orengo went on to say that of all the statements made by the President. This is the most dangerous because it undermines the Constitution and the people's sovereign power.
According to Orengo, the President must know that there is a clear system for overturning court verdicts allegedly gained by fraud or corrupt activities.
He stated that the President can direct his concerns to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), through which he has a representative, or make a report to the appropriate offices, including the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Inspector General of Police, but he cannot say that he will defy court orders.
The Governor of Siaya, speaking in his remote home in Ugenya constituency, reminded President Ruto that the Judiciary does not share judicial authority with him.
Other leaders have expressed alarm about President Ruto's words, in which he hinted that he will ignore court decisions to promote the country's development.
