Social media is abuzz with discontent as netizens express their dissatisfaction with the swift burial of socialite Starlet Wahu, who fell victim to a tragic murder on the night of January 4.
Surprisingly, Wahu was laid to rest on Saturday, January 6, breaking from the customary week-long mourning period typically observed within the Kikuyu community.
This deviation from tradition has sparked speculation and online debate, particularly in light of the controversial circumstances surrounding Wahu's untimely demise.
Emerging from a deeply religious family, with her mother, Prophetess Lucy Nduta, and brother, Pastor Victor Kanyari, being prominent figures in Kenya, the expedited burial has raised questions about the underlying reasons for the hurried ceremony.

Concerns have been voiced by fans regarding the family's perceived inclination to sidestep public scrutiny, particularly given the socialite's lavish lifestyle and the enigmatic circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
One user, Omwamba, voiced their confusion on social media, stating, “Why was Starlet Wahu buried in less than 72 hours? What was the hurry for???”
Another one, @Achebe_Waweru, penned: “Because keeping the body is outdated and is mainly done by the poor who have to fundraise, etc. Unless there is something like a need for an autopsy, etc, I believe this is the way to go. Africans really like complicating things that need no complication.”
In response to the growing questions, Pastor Kanyari, in a phone interview with Nairobi News, explained the family’s decision to proceed with a swift burial.
“As a family, we decided that it was the best way to mourn our loved one. Again, why the need to keep her yet she is gone forever? No need. We did not want outsiders during her burial. It was very private to the family,” Pastor Kanyari stated, hoping justice for his sister would prevail.
While certain families opt for prolonged mourning periods and elaborate ceremonies, others, such as Starlet Wahu's, may embrace a different approach. It is essential to respect each family's decision to foster cultural sensitivity and understanding during moments of sorrow.
Simultaneously, as authorities persist in their investigation, the motive behind this tragic crime remains elusive. Makadara police boss Judith Nyongesa stated that the police discovered the girl had succumbed to bleeding.
“The suspect cut the woman’s vein connecting to the heart which is why she died faster. We could not save her,” she said.
