The ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition's members of parliament now demand that Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung'u step down from his position, failing which they will impeach him.
John Chikati, the MP for Tongaren, and Geoffrey Ruku, the MP for Mbeere North, said on Thursday's Daybreak Show on Citizen TV that the CS had failed to carry out President William Ruto's agenda and was instead subjecting the regime to mockery from the opposition.
Citing the NG-CDF's delayed disbursement to facilitate student bursaries, Chikati, the Secretary General of the Ford Kenya Party, accused CS Ndung'u of incompetence, claiming he was purposefully frustrating lawmakers.
"We will impeach him very well, he is not performing. This is not the first time that Prof Ndung'u has done that. Last year it was war between Parliament and the Treasury before CDF was released," he said.

"Students have reported to schools, and there is no money, and most of them have been sent home since 80 percent of county students depend on CDF for disbursement of bursaries. As far as people might want to blame the government, the Ministry heads must take responsibility."
"We, as Ford Kenya MPs, are going to initiate signatures for his removal immediately," Chikati continued. After a year, he has demonstrated incompetence and allowed others to criticize the president.
The MP accused Prof. Ndung'u of impractical in managing financial matters, claiming that he has yet to accomplish anything despite holding office for over a year.
"There is no communication between him and MPs on the CDF delay, that tells you about rudeness, lack of planning and communication," he said.
"CS Ndung'u knows very well that in January, students normally open; he is so erratic, he speaks very good English and economic jargon instead of practical, actionable steps."
Lawmaker Ruku called the CS a "crybaby," criticizing him for not having the solid managerial abilities needed to support the president's success.
He claims that the CS has occasionally educated the public about the country's economic crisis rather than providing answers.
"If Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u cannot do his job, he should resign because one of his key roles as CS treasury is liability management of the country. We will not allow him to fail the president,' he noted.
"It is reckless for the Treasury CS to wake up and tell the nation that we are in a serious crisis. Tell us we have a serious crisis, but at the same time, tell us what you are doing about the crisis."
"Give us concrete steps which you are taking for the country to come out of the crisis…tell us what you have done for the last year. He is always a crybaby; this country is not about being a crybaby; it must be driven forward by innovative thinking," Ruku added.
As for the Azimio coalition Secretary for Political Affairs Fred Okango, who was also on the program, he laughed off the new effort to impeach the CS and criticized the Kenya Kwanza legislators.
Okango chastised the MPs, accusing them of feeling the heat and suffering the fallout from choosing the wrong leaders.
