Following the capsize of their food-transporting boat in the Indian Ocean close to the Kiwayu Chandani neighborhood of the Kiunga ward in Lamu County, seven Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers barely avoided death.
The unfortunate incident occurred while the soldiers ferried supplies after leaving the Manda camp in Magogoni, Hindi ward.
The boat sank due to the strong waves and swift winds that were prevalent at the time.
Before nearby local fishermen could get to the scene and save the soldiers, the vessel capsized.
Sadly, the soldiers were unable to save any of the food supplies that were on the boat, including bags of rice, potatoes, sugar, and oil, and they all sank and were lost.
