The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), in partnership with Uasin Gishu County, will install 200 transformers in the county over the next five years to attain 90% connectivity.
REREC CEO Dr Rose Mkalama said that the corporation is determined to ensure 100% access to electricity by the year 2030.
Speaking during the signing of a Kes 60 million matching fund project, Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii said that the county will focus on connecting milk cooling centers and public institutions to ensure that 90% of the residents have access to electricity.
The two also commissioned an electricity project in Kaptik village, Moiben Constituency, benefiting 65 households.
