Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has postponed the burial of the caretaker and trainer, Kizito Moi Amukune, after a dispute over his cause of death.

While responding to rumors from some quarters about the cause of Moi's brutal death, the Senator called the claims "wild, baseless, and false" while also revealing that the burial was postponed to allow detectives to investigate.

The Senate Majority Whip further stated that he had previously welcomed and hosted a team of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to his Malinya residence for a "thorough fact-finding" expedition.

"Following wild, baseless, and false claims by some pseudo politicians in Kakamega, I've today been forced to indefinitely postpone the burial of my trusted fighter bull caretaker," he wrote on X.

"Meanwhile, today, I hosted a team of DCI detectives at my Malinya Home for a thorough fact-finding mission over the unfortunate demise of the late Kizito Moi Amukune." he added.

Khalwale, fondly known as the 'Bullfighter' due to his penchant for growing fighter bulls and fiercely supporting the sport, stated that Moi's funeral would only occur once the authorities conducted "credible and conclusive" investigations.

"I've readily opened up my home to the police to afford them an opportunity to make credible and conclusive investigations into this sad death thereby enabling them to pursue the matter to a logical conclusion before burial plans continue," he told reporters.

On January 28, Khalwale revealed that Inasio, his decorated fighter bull known across Western Kenya, had gored and killed its caretaker at his home in Shikhuyu village, Kakamega.

According to Khalwale, another employee discovered the body in the cowshed while performing his responsibilities.

Following the event, the Senator stated that the deceased crew had cared for his fighter bulls for the past 20 years.

In accordance with Luhya customs, Khalwale speared and murdered the killer bull.

Following the caretaker's death, a well-known Kakamega businessman disputed the former Ikolomani MP's account of events.
