The county secretary stated that sixty patients remained admitted to different hospitals and that upon their release, they would receive the same psycho-social care and other forms of material support.
In addition to working with the National Construction Authority (NCA) and the National Building Inspectorate to conduct structural integrity tests on all buildings impacted by the gas explosion and fire, the county government announced that it would provide financial assistance to the fire victims.
After that, it would advise on the next cause of action, “which may include but not limited to the evacuation of the tenants,” Akivanga noted.
The county government said that a multi-agency team headed by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and the county disaster team was investigating reports that surfaced on Monday morning regarding possible gas leakage at the location of Thursday's explosion.
