A man died after he was electrocuted after climbing an electricity pole in the Kosawo area in Manyatta, Kisumu County, on Tuesday night.
Confirming the incident, Kondele location Chief Maurice Ajwang said the deceased, identified as Jeremiah Osiri alias Mzee, climbed the utility pole following a blackout in the area.
He said that Osiri died instantly after getting into contact with a live wire.
The motive behind his move is yet to be established, but preliminary investigations show that the man was not an authorized employee of Kenya Power Company.
Following the incident, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) personnel and police visited and processed the scene and retrieved his body.
