Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Monday filed a defamation suit against businessman Cleophas Shimanyula, alias Toto, seeking millions in damages for linking him to his worker’s death.
Through his lawyers Danstan Omari, Omaiyo Oranga and Shadrack Wambui, Khalwale wants Shimanyula to admit liability and pay compensation to settle the matter or prepare for a defamation suit.
This is after Shimanyula refused to offer an apology as demanded on February 8.
Further, the lawyers are seeking an order stopping Shimanyula from posting and publishing on any media platform defamatory remarks relating to him, his family, and his late employer Kizito Moi Amukune.
Besides Khalwale’s defamation suit, the senator has instructed his lawyers to write a demand letter to his three surviving wives and 17 children.
