The High Court has lifted the injunction preventing the government from printing Maisha, Namba, or Digital IDs, marking a significant step forward in implementing the government’s Digital ID ecosystem.
This will enhance the registration process for individuals through unique identifiable numbers.
The suspension, in place since last year, resulted in a backlog of ID applications, impacting hundreds of thousands of Kenyans awaiting IDs or replacements.
The Friday court decision provides much-needed relief to the government, allowing it to issue third-generation IDs, Maisha Namba, and Digital IDs.
