A new development has surfaced regarding the demise of the University of Nairobi lecturer Samuel Mbutu. As per the information, strangers using Samuel Mbutu's phone contacted his wife through calls and text messages, making demands. The family of the deceased also disclosed that before his disappearance, he had attended a funeral at a student's residence in Vihiga county on February 16th.

Subsequently, he intended to travel to Kisumu as part of his scheduled journey back to Nairobi, specifically to his residence in Kariobangi South, where his wife and two children were expecting him. Information from sources further indicated that he boarded a matatu, but the journey faced delays due to mechanical problems with the public service vehicle (PSV).

The individuals making the calls were seeking monetary demands from Samuel Mbutu's wife and others on his contact list. The body of Samuel Mbutu was found at a city bus park two days ago, and it was subsequently transported to the city mortuary. The family positively identified the body. An autopsy performed by the pathologist indicated that he suffered head injuries, along with injuries on his hands and visible signs of strangulation on his neck. Law enforcement officers have initiated investigations into this enigmatic murder.
