A man from Southern California is suing a five-star hotel in Las Vegas, claiming that while he was sleeping there, a scorpion stung his testicles.

Agoura Hills resident Michael Farchi claims that months after the incident, he is still dealing with lingering medical problems and is in excruciating pain.

According to Farchi, shocked awake on December 26 while staying at the Palazzo Tower of the Venetian, he and his family were startled.

"I woke up with sharp pain in my private area," he recalled. "Didn't know what it was. I reached my hand to see what was happening under the covers and got another sharp pain."

He claims that the tiny, poisonous creature stung him three or four times at the latest and that he later discovered it still clinging to his boxers.

What kind of scorpion it is and how toxic its venom is needs to be clarified. The arachnid appears about an inch long in photos that Farchi and his lawyer have released.

After receiving care at a nearby hospital, he reported the incident to the hotel staff. He claims he was still required to pay for the room.

He is now suing the resort for an amount not yet determined.

"Nobody staying in Vegas needs to exposed to deadly scorpions while they're sleeping, let alone on their private parts, their testicles," said his attorney, Brian Virag.

The hotel has been contacted by Eyewitness News to request a statement.

The hotel told a Las Vegas TV station, "The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident."
