Residents of Langa-Langa, Nakuru county, were shocked after a hyena was found hiding inside a Miraa shop.
According to witnesses, the hyena is thought to have wandered into the business in the dark of night before becoming stuck.
“I closed my stall last night around 8 p.m. and went home early because I had run out of miraa. There was no sign of a hyena,” Frederick Wamungu, the stall owner, recounted.

“I arrived and found many people gathered and shouting. They claimed that a hyena was inside my stall,” he added.
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel who responded to the situation rescued the hyena and transported it to a nearby wildlife center.
As the KWS works to end animal-human conflict, Kenyans are urged to report such incidents to the KWS hotline as soon as possible for a timely and suitable response.
