The High Court has postponed the sentencing of Joseph Irungu Alias Jowie to Wednesday, March 13th next week.
This was after Lady Justice Grace Nzioka pointed out that crucial documents expected to assist the court in reaching its final decision had been filed as late as Thursday at 7 pm.
Further, the postponement was occasioned by a change of counsel by the accused, Jowie Irungu, whom the judge noted had not filed a mitigation report as required.
Thus, Justice Nzioka directed that the replies be filed by Tuesday next week so that she can deliver the sentence on Wednesday.
Jowie Irungu was found guilty by the High Court in a ruling delivered by Lady Justice Grace Nzioka on February 9, bringing the murder trial that began circa 2018 to a close.

"Having considered the evidence in this matter it is the finding of this court that the prosecution has adduced adequate evidence and has met the threshold.... It is the finding of this court that the first accused person murdered the deceased," ruled Justice Grace Nzioka.
On the other hand, Former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was charged alongside Irungu, was, however, acquitted of the murder charge, with the judge stating that the count of murder was not the proper charge that the prosecution would have preferred against her.
"There was no evidence that she had ever communicated with the deceased. The evidence that the prosecution has brought before this court on the second accused person relates to events of September 20, 2018, and that is the shooting incident," noted Justice Nzioka.
Kimani met a tragic end in 2018 when she was discovered dead at her residence in Lamuria Gardens Apartment, situated on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road in Kilimani.
